FAQ/Uniform

Digital Devices
We are fortunate to have access to Chromebooks and iPads, which our children use to further their learning.

We do not encourage students to bring personal digital devices to school. If they do need to (for after school reasons) these devices are the responsibility of the owner and MUST be handed into the school office upon arrival.

Hats
We are a sunsmart school – students are required to wear their school hats in Term 1 and Term 4. Hats are issued to children upon enrolment. Year 7 and 8 students have the option of buying a bucket hat from the uniform shop (listed below) which they are allowed to wear at school.

Facebook & Instagram
We are on social media! Join us with our adventures by following us on Facebook and Instagram. We post regularly!

Library
Our school library is used regularly by all students. Teachers encourage our students to borrow the library books. Please make sure your children return their library books to school when required.

Lost Property
Please make sure you name all of your child’s clothing. Lost property is located by the shoe shelves next to the students’ entrance door. At the end of each term, any unclaimed lost property is donated to charity or added to the school’s second-hand clothing stock.

Parking
There is limited parking available in and around our school. If you are parking inside our school grounds, please be watchful of our students who may be walking home or walking towards the bus, and stray pieces of sports gear. There is parking available outside of our school grounds, on the side of the road.

School Newsletter
We publish a school newsletter once a fortnight. This is sent home with the eldest child at the school. It can also be viewed on our school website.

School Bus
Our school bus run travels north to the Tuhiturata sub-station, south to Lake Ferry and along Cape Palliser Road. Children who catch the bus will be issued a high-vis vest from the school which they are required to wear on both bus runs; before and after school. If you are interested in getting your child on the bus, please contact the school office.

Curriculum
Our local curriculum – ‘The Pirinoa Learning Path’ is focused on our people, our culture and our environment. We aim to provide our children with a well-rounded education, focusing on academia and social abilities, as well as having fun learning in different places.

Every Friday we cook sausages and sell juicies for $2 each. This is a fundraiser which we use to help improve our learning tools and school environment.

Lamb and Calf Day
Lamb and Calf Day is an important community day on our Term 4 calendar. Children are encouraged to bring their pets and celebrate this rural school tradition with members of our community. We also create some awesome indoor exhibits which are showcased in the classrooms.

Uniform
This year we have a new uniform, current students are able to use their current shorts/skorts, we ask that all students commence the year wearing our new polo shirts. A list of uniform items is available below. The uniform does not include specific shoes because, being a country school, many of the students like to come to school barefoot or wearing redband gumboots! However, sensible and respectful footwear is required at sporting events and excursions out of school. The Bucket Hat option is for year 7 and 8 senior students only. All other year levels wear the wide-brimmed hat which is available from the school office for $10.

Uniform will be available from the school office.
