Principal’s Message….

Wow! What a term it has been! We’ve officially made it out of winter and have been enjoying the sunshine the last few days (although we could use some rain for our gardens!).

A huge thank you to all of you who have supported us in many different ways this term. Your work and help with all of our projects has been greatly appreciated – from driving our kids to and from school on trip days, helping out around the school, supporting us at the Kapa Haka Festival and being incredible with all of our fundraising ventures this term. We couldn’t make our school the awesome place it is without your support!

The disco last night was great fun! The kids looked amazing, danced hilariously and seemed to enjoy a night out. Thanks for supporting the Year 7/8 camp fundraiser – we have one fundraiser left but we are forecast to meet our fundraising goal. A huge thank you for this! The kids are very excited for camp, which takes place in November.

We are sad to inform you all of the resignation of Corina Ngatai. Corina has been instrumental in developing our Pirinoa Medical Clinic, which has been a great asset for our community. Corina’s last day in the clinic will be the 18th of October.

Term 4 brings with it Pet Day, Athletics, Big Day Out trips, Camp, Prizegiving and much more.

Term 4 starts back on Monday 9th November. We look forward to seeing you then!

Have a safe and wonderful break,

Nat and the Pirinoa Staff

Room 1 News

We have had a wonderful week this week to wrap up the term!  Our letter this week is the letter “P” and we have been doing all kinds of activities based around the letter and sound.  We made some Pikelets (and ate them up!); we became Police Officers with our new badges and ID cards; we found things all around the place that start with P; made some Pipe Cleaner Pets; and did some artwork based on Peacocks!

The children are busy earning points for hard work and good behaviour in the class and around the school and some have earned the reward of having a Hot Chocolate at the Land Girl this week.  We are lucky enough to have a volunteer helper for a couple of hours each morning, Whaea Liz lives down at Lake Ferry and comes in each morning to help the new children settle into our routines.  We appreciate her giving us her precious time each day – thank you Liz!

Have a wonderful break and see you all next term!

Room 2 News

Room 2 has had a great term! This week we have been replanting our school garden boxes. We spent a few afternoons in the sun clearing the weeds, turning over the soil and replanting some vegetables. We are excited to see how much they have grown after our holiday!

Room 3 News

Room 3 have loving their daily taskmaster challenges this term. We’ve split into five teams (Task One was to name our teams) called Big Mac Whoopers, Fat Hairy Monkeys, Nuclear Bombs, Knuckleheads and Chicken Nuggets. This term our grand winner are the Knuckleheads who have earnt 176.

This week, our final task of the term was to paint the best rainbow picture blindfolded. Paint went everywhere! Some of the pictures were… interesting to say the least but some of the kids actually managed a semi decent rainbow on their piece of paper (not on the table!).
