Principal’s Message….

Tena koutou katoa, welcome back to 2022! We hope you had an enjoyable break and coping with the now quiet houses with everyone back at school!

There’s been such an amazing good vibe in our start to the year, the pool is in full use and hopefully the good weather will remain with us for a wee bit yet. A big welcome to our new pupils Brax, Reid and Tijleigh who started their school days with us last week on our first day back. We also welcome Meg Excell who is running the Room 2 team this year, I’m sure you will get to meet her over the next few weeks.
Thank you everyone firstly for supporting students wearing their masks, they have been so awesome about it and proving to be adaptable and flexible at a moments notice. Secondly, it’s been great to see students in our new uniform, we appreciate that due to circumstances beyond our control, some have not received theirs as yet, hopefully they are on the way. There are always a few teething issues when something of this scale changes and systems are still being refined. Here are a couple of points to remember:
  • Ordering is online only (we are looking into getting supplies in the Masterton store in the future)
  • Shorts/skorts/ fleeces/sweatshirts from last year can still be worn if they fit (we will look to phase them out as our new uniform becomes readily available)
  • Bucket hats are for year 7 and 8 only . All other students should have their wide-brimmed hat from last year, see Jess in the office if they need replacement ($10)
Next week we have our annual beach trip Wednesday, information has gone home, please can we have the forms back so we can organise groups and transport. Remember to sign up for skool loop as this is our primary means of communication between home and school. The links are on this website.
Ngā mihi nui,
Gene

Room 1 News

Room one has been soo busy!  We have been super creative doing lots of artwork and for science, we studied microbes. We learned the importance of proper handwashing and constructed different microbes out of playdough! We also did experiments that show how far a sneeze can travel….eeeew! Swimming every day has been the best! Congratulations to Lucy Finlayson who won our student of the week award for putting effort into everything we did!

Room 2 News

Room 3 is loving being back at school. We’ve settled quickly into routine and are cracking on with our learning. For the next few weeks we are learning about rock pools and the changes along our coastline, in terms of geology. This term we will also learn about ancient Māori artists and the South Island Gold Rush. We can’t wait to share our new learning with you throughout the term.

Stationey Invoices:

Stationey invoices have been sent home for the year 2022! We kindly ask these to be paid this term so we don’t need to be chasing up unpaid invoices term 4.

If you would like to set up a direct debit payment plan we can help with this 🙂
